SPAIN SENTENCES THE CATALAN LANGUAGE TO DEATH

As you know Spanish is spoken by millions of people around the world. I am sure you may even know some word in Spanish. How many words do you know in Catalan? Well, in fact you may not even know what Catalan is! Catalan is the language spoken for about 1000 years in an area where Barcelona is the capital. Since the Spanish dictator Franco died the Catalan language has been taught at school. As it is a small language against a giant like the Spanish language, the Catalan language is the main language in the schools in Catalonia. This has happened for 30 years and it is a way of helping the Catalan language not to disappear. If the Catalan was not treated in a special way the Spanish language will disappear eaten by the Spanish language as it has happened with other languages.
But today the Supreme Tribunal of Spain has declared that Spanish must be also a main language in Catalan schools. This means that the Catalan language has been sentenced to death.

So, now you know, Spain has sentenced one of its old languages to death. I just wanted the world to know.
